Where it Began
Jim Macy has been in his professional hypnosis office since 2002.
He learned hypnosis during the mid-1950s and has come back to it as a profession. Jim earned his doctorate in 1983, and after graduating from an accredited college of hypnosis opened his professional practice using Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Neuro-Linguistic Programing (NLP) in his office, clinics, workshops, and seminars.
He has also participated in the online courses for continuing education requirements for Play Therapists.
He has earned international recognition and continues his education through accredited venues. He is a member in good standing of the National Guild of Hypnotists, the American Hypnosis Association, and the International Hypnosis Association.
Many of his peers have endorsed him for his skill in using EFT, NLP, Hypnosis, Stress Management, Personal Development, Public Speaking, and Coaching. Also because I respect my client's rights, please review: My Code of Ethics
Because of his background, Jim puts an emphasis on the physiological and neurological areas of his work, rather than the more simplified art of hypnosis.
He will tell you almost anyone can learn hypnosis in a short time, but it is the therapy part that takes time and training once a person is experiencing hypnosis.
As well as being a Certified Consulting Hypnotist, Jim is also a Neuro-Linguistic Program Practitioner at the Masters level, and practices the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) as taught by Gary Craig in the late 1990s.
Jim is also a published author and his most recent work is entitled:
"Unleashing Your Powerful Mind with Hypnosis."
Jim has treated many clients over the years with diverse personal, medical, and addictive issues. Some of these issues include ADHD, Multiple Personality Disorder, rewiring the brain for stroke survivors, PTSD, and many more.
As with most Hypnotherapists, many people have come to him to quit smoking. He lets them know right up front that he cannot help them quit smoking, but he can help them become a non-smoker.
He has found that the simple re-framing of the problem allows his client to approach smoking cessation with a much more positive and constructive mindset.
Jim has also taught self-hypnosis to Special Forces warriors and communication skills to corporations wanting to boost their employees' production along with reducing work-stress issues.
Several medical doctors have referred their bariatric surgery patients to him after the patients lost weight, and then re-stretched their stomachs, and gain the weight back.
Jim has been successful at resolving Weight Issues, Multiple Personality Disorder, heroin addiction, self-esteem, and many other habits beliefs, or behaviors that his clients want to change.
Recently Jim and his wife Loni have begun to travel the United States in their motorhome.
Jim still accepts clients for telephone hypnosis and works with a variety of athletes in all sports categories. Some of the more unusual categories include rodeo bull riding, semi-professional bicycle racing, roller derby skaters, collegiate track athletes, as well as golf, baseball, and softball.
As a result of his full-time travel plan, Jim is able to work with companies and athletic associations to run in-person clinics, workshops, and seminars to improve sports and personal achievement. He also speaks to service groups on a variety of subjects including:
"Is Your Mind Directing Your Life, or Are You Just Carrying It around?"
These are fun speaking topics that engage the audience and help awaken the power within.
Are You Thinking... "Who Uses Hypnosis?"
While Jim acknowledges he has not work directly with these athletes, many famous athletes use or have used hypnosis to improve their performance, including...
these basketball greats:
- Michael Jordan
- Kobe Bryant
- Shaquille O'Neal
..and well known golfers:
- Tiger Woods
- Jack Nicklaus
- and many, many others.
...yep, Sports Teams too:
- The 1983 Chicago White Sox.
- The 1960's Swiss national ski team.
- Members of the 1982 U.S. team competing in the Atlantic Judo Championships may have professional sports hypnotists on a full-time basis.
